Family visas after the election

Very few British voters know about the unfair financial rules affecting family visas. The Tory manifesto promises to make things even worse and again very few voters know about this.

Is there an appropriate place to discuss how we can inform the electorate before the election? At the very least we should have a standard letter template that we can all send to friends and family explaining the implications for us if Teressa May gets elected?

I rarely see discussions like this here. Is there an appropriate forum? Is it ok to keep this thread open (ideally pinned) so that we can work together a bit more proactively?

Due to the recent (February 2017) Supreme Court judgment in the Minimum Income Requirements/MM case, there has already been recent coverage of the situation with family visas in the media in the recent past. So, people who are interested in social justice matters may already be aware of the issue at hand. And those not interested in social justice issues are not likely to become interested because of a campaign in a field that they are disinterested in.

The Tory manifesto plan to increase the minimum income requirements is already in the public domain.

Maybe the majority of the British don't care. Why would they? This doesn't affect them. Generally speaking, they are more concerned about the NHS or perhaps benefit cuts and *immigration control* <-That says it all.

Your friends, uncles, aunties etc. probably care. We could at least have something convincing to easily share with them. In my experience my family, friends and colleagues (liberal or otherwise) had no idea. Very few people outside this forum will remember or understand the details of this Tory policy.

My family don't seem to care. They just assume the rules are there for a good reason, and, while it is unfortunate that I am caught up in this, marrying a foreigner is just the latest example of me making life more complicated for myself.

Remember the conservatives pledged to make the situation even worse and Labour pledged to scrap the minimum income requirement for married couples.
