GETTING MARRIED WITH REFUGEE STATUS

Post by SparkleMe » Mon Jun 12, 2017 10:23 am

Hi. I am in the UK on refugee status with 2years 5months remaining. I met a guy 2 years ago who is a British Citizen and we now want to get married. Considering my refugee status is it possible for me to get married??? and under what visa category would I make a new settlement application based on the marriage?

1. Yes, you have to give notice at an HO approved registry office, they then inform HO and the notice can be extended from 28 days to 70 days for HO to possible investigate and/or interview each of you separately before they will give permission for you to marry.

2. Spouse visa, form FLR(M) and it will be a new 5 year (2 X 3.5 year visas) before you will qualify for ILR.

You will also have to pay the immigration health surcharge.
