Im a portuguese national living in the UK, i want to mary my brazilian girlfriend but due to her being and over stayer we cant do nothing in this country, we have been presented with and option of me going to portugal and taken a power of attorney document in which someone signs the marrige off for her or we both create on of those documents and we send it off to Brazil in which a lawyer would sign them off for us and present it to a judge to begin the proceedings.
Now we are very ignorant on all these laws and how the documents generated at the embassy work.
My question is where would i go to generate this document for my self, Portuguese embassy or Brazilian embassy? i was at the Portuguese embassy yesterday and one of the desk clersks was adamant that i could only use the document in Portugal so he said i should go to the Brazilian consulate to generate one there.
Obviously Marriage would then lead on to the Visa's required to get rid of the overstayer status so we can move forward with life.
