SS route for parents to Ireland

Post by rh108 » Fri Jun 23, 2017 11:38 am

I am a British Citizen currently living in UK. My dependent Bangladeshi parents have applied for Irish C visa under directive 2004/38/EC to Irish Embassy which is taking long time due to large outstanding visa applications. After a year waiting we have given up and thinking of withdrew visa application and apply for UK visit visa instead.

Once they are in UK we all travel to Ireland using Common Travel Area. Then I shall exercise my EU Treaty right there. My question is when we are in Ireland can my parents apply for EU1 residence card as family member of EU citizen in Ireland although they will not have Ireland entry stamp or Irish C type visa?

I really appreciate any thoughts or alternative suggestions on this matter.

Thanks arz1986 for your reply.
When did you do it?
Case will take more than 10 months what are the challenges you faced?
When applied for parents UK visit visa did you show them as your dependents? Or self-sufficient?

Thanks in advance for help.

yes, apply for 6 month visit visa in UK it take normally 15 days, your parents come to UK then come to ireland through belfast and apply EU1 form, six mont to 1 year dependency is enough. if uk is still giving visit visa it is easy way. if you come here and apply directly to home country it will take ages. during that tie share house, make pps and bank account here.

Can you please tell me about when applying for EU1, not having Ireland entry stamp on passport (as parents will be traveling via Belfast) or no Irish entry visa would be a problem? Can they refuse EU1 application on that ground?

Once again many thanks arz1986, any response will be appreciated.

No, a visa can't be refused due to that.

It's highly unlikely to get a visit visa for uk after applying for an Irish visa under directive.

my mother got it, they will issue stamp when you get temporary stamp 4 for nine year, I and zahmed did same thing, and our parent get the entry stamp when they get stamp 4.

Thank you both for your time and help.

zahmed05 as you said it will be highly unlikely my parents will get UK visit visa, then what will be the alternative option? any suggestions please?

I am desperately in need of any advice you can give me.

I still suggest to at least try for a visit visa to the UK and show strong ties with the UK. This is your best bet at the moment.

please keep in mind that you may not have enough time to do SS route. you may have to live in Ireland for 5 years. It's not a bad place to live and I don't intend to move back to the UK once I get a visa for my mother.

The waiting time in Ireland is huge though. I have been waiting for more than 8 months now without any good news but as long as one is living as a family, that's all that matters in the end.

Best of luck!!
