Tier2 and Child Benefit

Hi!I am Ukrainian and have been working for more than 1 year in the UK and pay all taxes.I have been told that I could claim child benefit £20,7 weekly, I have not claimed yet anything ,because no public funds regarding visa. If I am eligible or not to claim for my child?if so could I get money for 1 year of living here?Thank you
