Tier 2 (General) visa to ILR

Post by dlgi1 » Tue Jun 27, 2017 9:11 am

Hi,

Sorry if the answers has been posted in some form previously but I've been having trouble Googling a clear answer. I have successfully obtained a job with a UK company and am in the process of applying for a Tier 2 (General) visa that will last 3 years.

1. Is this a settlement or non settlement Visa application?
2. Will the 3 years count towards the 5 years required to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain/permanent residency?
3. After obtaining the Tier 2 (General) visa, will I be considered a UK resident?

Thank you

1. Non-settlement
2. Yes
3. Yes, after obtaining a visa and moving to the UK. Just holding the visa will not make you resident.

Thanks for your reply.

So as long as I have the Tier 2 visa and am renting and living in, for example, an apartment in the UK I will be considered a UK resident?
