Would appreciate any comments. thanksShanaz Ali wrote:Dear Respected members
I have applied for Registration as British national for my son (who turned 18 after application) since 22/3/2017. Have not received the approval as yet .
In the meantime my son should be progressing to the University and I have applied for student finance. They need evidence of my son's status.
I did write to them explaining that all ORIGINAL documents including passport, BRP and birth certificate are with Home office and I sent them the original acknowledgement letter which was received in my name.
However they wrote to me again asking for status of my son since September 2014 to September 2017. They want ORIGINALS ONLY.
my query is:
I still have my sons ORIGINAL BRP (of course now expired) which was an PBS dependant w.e.f. march 2013 to march 2016. This was returned while considering our ILR application. Home office did not mention anywhere that we should destroy this after receiving the ILR BRP (which is now with home office with the current application of MNI for my son)
Is it alright to send this document. I don,t want to create any complication while our application is being considered.
Thanks for your valued advise as always.
There was a Dispatches programme about similar cases on Channel 4 last night and unfortunately there's not a lot you can do but submit what the university is requesting and if you fail to meet their deadline your son will either have to sit it out for a year, unless you can afford the full whack this year. Thousands of children in similar situation. If the BRP is expired they are highly unlikely to accept it but I'm sure it won't affect your current application. You could also try requesting your documents back without withdrawing your application here https://eforms.homeoffice.gov.uk/outrea ... ments.ofmlShanaz Ali wrote:Would appreciate any comments. thanksShanaz Ali wrote:Dear Respected members

Thanks for the above responses.Obie wrote:The possibility exist to request the return of documents, without it affecting the registration.
Was your child born in the UK?
Thanks CR001.CR001 wrote:You should have applied using NCS if you knew you might need the original documents.
Thanks once again Obie.Obie wrote:Well the ILR BRP can be used.
I don't usually send original documents for registration. Photocopies of BRP and passport suffices, and Home Office never request it.
However you can request it.
Yes as long as they no longer have use for the originals they will post them back in as little as 7-10 days, I requested my partner's documents and got them back in 7 days. Click on the link on my post above and follow the instructions.Shanaz Ali wrote:Thanks once again Obie.Obie wrote:Well the ILR BRP can be used.
