Migration to Europe for Australian or New Zealander

Post by mervynjohntaylor1 » Wed Jun 28, 2017 1:52 pm

Hi

Was just looking for a bit of advice. Was wondering what would be the easiest country in Europe for myself to migrate to permanently. I'm a 30 year old citizen of Australia and New Zealand with 3 years of call centre experience and I also have a Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Communications) from Queensland, Australia. I'm currently on a working holiday in the UK working at a call centre in Scotland but would like to stay in Europe long term. Ideally I'd like to work in the customer service industry and would be open to living in any country in Europe and learning the language, I only speak English at the moment. The other option I would consider would be restudying at a university, but open to all ideas. Just trying to work out what my best options are at the moment.

Have a look at Malta. An Aussie co-worker went there a coulple of years ago after her Tier 5 YMS expired and she said she was allowed to work etc.

Do you not have a UK born grandparent??

Thanks for your advice, will look into that a bit further. Unfortunately don't have any British grandparents, just Great Great grandparents

In general- There isn't any obvious migration option to Europe for an Australian/NZ citizen who cannot claim any EEA/Swiss citizenship by ancestry and who does not have a U.K. born parent or grandparent.

Migration rules are country specific and depending on desired outcome it's not enough to look at the regulations for work visas/permits on their own but also at the pathway (if any) to permanent residence and citizenship. Also whether dual citizenship is permitted.

Australia and New Zealand have working holiday arrangements with multiple EU states and depending on age and other requirements, it may be possible to spend some years based in Europe using a series of working holiday visas from different countries.
This is not intended to be legal or professional advice in any jurisdiction.
