Spouse visa documents to send directly to Sheffield !

Hi all,

Today it was my wifes appointment chandigarh VFS centre for spouse visa application. They took her bio metric kept her passport and asked her to send remaining supporting documents to sheffield.

Has this happens to anyone else too in the past? Apparently home office website does not say anything about this nor does VFS website.

Please share your experiences and shed some light on this.

This is perfectly normal, We also followed this new procedure which has been in place since the new year. Nothing to worry about.

I have another query with same matter. In online application submission we get a confirmation e mail. In that e mail it says about the bar code to be put at the front of application print out. My question is this barcode is the barcode which is generated as a part of online application or is it the one which VFS gives at the time of biometric and passport acceptance?

normally the first page of the print out contains the bar code, its headed "Applicant Details "

It will be your GWF number, the staff at the centre will scan this.

We went for our appointment at VFS New Delhi today and can confirm that this is the new procedure - they scan and keep your passport, take your biometrics, and ask you to send all documents (including forms) to Sheffield directly.

I am in similar situation & applying UK spouse visa for my wife. I have below queries, appreciate if you can reply:
1) How much time is available after the appointment in Delhi for the documents to be received at Sheffield?
2) Is it possible to pay the IHA & VISA fee in GBP by a UK card?

How much time did it take to get the visa, please.

1 - 2 weeks for priority and 4 weeks for non-priority
2 - Yes
3 - India it is taking around 12 weeks for a decision
