Islamic Nikha - Decree Absolute

Post by Kashif_Hussain » Fri Jun 30, 2017 11:13 am

Hi,
Need some clarification.

Married in the UK (Islamic nikha only), it was not a civil or registered marriage.
Now got a divorce certificate from sharia council.

Do I need to apply for a decree absolute (divorce certificate) from a UK court?

Thanks

I personally don't think the Islamic marriage which wasn't registered and was performed in UK will be recognized by UK authorities. And maybe you free to remarry and won't need decree absolute for a marriage which uk don't recognize. Only if it was performed in Islamic country only then it was deemed recognized.
