Naturalisation letter and documents returned

Post by danielscor » Sat Jul 01, 2017 7:24 pm

Sorry to bother you with this. Hope you will find my question useful.

I sent my application 2 months ago and after a month I received a letter with the instructions for the BIOMETRICS. I did everything and I am still waiting for my application to be approved. I might be away this summer, just for 1 week in July and 1 week in August. What if they send me the letter and I am not at home?
Ok, that seems easy: I ask my friend to check my mails twice a week, done!! ops, but what if the letter comes in the envelope with all the documents I sent to support my application? that is a big envelope and cannot get through unless someone opens the door!! The other two people who live in my block work a lot and are not at home till 6 or 8 pm... (which is the same problem I would have even if I did not go away..I work all day so I cannot open the door) so, what is going to happen? is the parcel with all my precious documents (all original) going to be left at the local grocery shop or in a safe place? WHen I got my my permanent residency almost 2 years ago I received it during Christmas holidays. I was away. The guy who lives in my block opened the door and was given the huge parcel with all the documents and the permanent residence card inside. WHat would have happend if nobody had opened the door? would they have left a note saying "sorry we missed you" ? this is rather unsettling, and not just if you are abroad for a week. As I said before, if you work all day how can you open the door and get the parcel?
Thank you for reading this!!

would they have left a note saying "sorry we missed you" ?
Yes, this is what they will do. Not everyone sends 'huge bundles of documents' for citizenship, so most of us just get them back through the door.

You should have applied through NCS then, keeping hold of all your original documents.

Naturalisation approval letter and ceremony letter

Post by danielscor » Sat Jul 01, 2017 8:48 pm

Hi!! on the AN guide and on the Home Office website I read that there is a 3 month period to book the ceremony. According to what I read on the H.O. website it is not true that the ceremony must be BOOKED within 21 days and the applicant must ATTEND ceremony within 90 days from date of approval letter.
I believe I have good comprehension skills. Please let me know if I am wrong and why.

Below is what you can read on the H.O website

Quote " ... You will receive an invitation letter from the Home Office and this will confirm the local authority you should contact to arrange your ceremony. We expect you to arrange to attend a ceremony within 3 months of receiving your invitation otherwise it will expire and you will have to reapply for naturalisation and pay a further processing fee. "

Regards,
Daniel

Can you please desist from digging up topics that are 2 to 4 years old. Keep your questions in your own topic (this one).
