Tier 2 dependent what is acceptable in lieu of marriage cert

Post by amit mumbai » Sat Jul 08, 2017 4:09 am

My wife is a tier 2 visa holder and currently in UK. I have to apply for visa as her dependent. Although we are married for 17 years; I don't have the marriage certificate. Although our passports mention each other as spouse. Will it suffice? what other documents can be submitted in support in lieu of marriage certificate. Pls guide. Thanks.

Can you not get another copy of the marriage certificate?

There has recently been a refusal due to no evidence of marriage being submitted (no marriage cert).

Thank you for your revert.
The copy of marriage certificate may not be possible, as my wife is in UK and for the certificate (to be issued in India) her physical presence here is necessary. Any other alternative, if acceptable ; will be of great help.

Thanks again.

No, i never got the marriage registration done. However, marriage was with all the ceremony etc. I have :
1. Child birth certificate with father and mothers name.
2. Passport with our names as spouse
3. Wedding photographs

Pls suggest, if anything else that i can attach.

Can you not get an affidavit from a public notary (in India) and include that with your application while you also explain the situation.
