ILR - T2 General - SET(O) - Section 5

Post by anub2016 » Sun Jul 09, 2017 3:03 pm

Hi,

I've a query regarding question 5.2 under 'Section 5 - Your home and finances' of the SET(O) form for ILR.

"5.2 Do you or your partner, or both, pay any rent or mortgage for your home? If so, how much do you
pay each month?
"

Does the question 'If so, how much do you pay each month?' imply - The Total Rent of the Property Or The Contribution/Share towards the Rental Amount?

My spouse and I privately rent an apartment and I pay the entire rent. However, we will be making separate applications for Settlement/ILR.

Could the Moderators/Experts please advise if we both provide the Total Rental Amount in our individual applications Or our Rental Contribution (which would be £0 for my Spouse)?

Many Thanks.

Why are you concerning yourself with Set(O) now when you only qualify for ILR in 2021??? The form will very likely have changes by the time you qualify for ILR.

Hi CR001, Thank you for your reply.

Actually, based on how this question needs to be answered in the form (either Total Rent of the Property Or the Rental Contribution of the applicant), my spouse and I were thinking of sharing the Rent and pay from our individual bank accounts.

I'm also concerned if the Savings (Net Pay each month after Income Tax and other deductions as asked in Question 5.3 - Rental Amount asked in Question 5.2) affect the outcome of the application and if there is a minimum amount that should be saved each month for a successful ILR application.

Many Thanks.

There is no right or wrong answer. You simply, when you get to 2021, need to complete the form honestly. The form will have changed by 2021 so asking questions now is pointless.

You need to meet the minimum salary requirement to qualify for ILR, which is currently listed as £36,200 per annum for 2020. Your dependents income is irrelevant.

No maintenance fund requirement for ILR as the rules stand now.

Please, focus on getting to 2021 without breaching your visa conditions first, instead of scrutinising a form now. The rules could change by then, no one knows and no one can tell you what the requirements will be in 2021.
