Extension of spouse visa from within UK

Post by victorspear » Sun Jul 09, 2017 8:33 pm

Hi,

I'm originally from India but I have been in the UK for 9 years now. I came to the UK in 2009 on Tier 2 (ICT) Long Term Visa and then got my ILR in 2014. I haven't applied for naturalisation yet. My marriage was in the later half of 2014 so my wife joined me in the UK as a 'family member of settled person' in 2015. She was given visa for 33 months, so her visa is due for a renewal in 2 months' time. My wife is currently not employed but she's planning to in the future. I have been going through various documents online to understand:

- what renewal options available?
- application forms that I need to download?
- Supporting documents that I need to supply?
- Health Surcharge
- Whether 'Premium' application is an option for us?

However after spending a few days online I'm not too sure I have understood it clearly as I can't seem to get my head around a few things:

- My ILR expires in 2024, does that mean that my wife needs to pay a health surcharge of £1400? (7 years of my visa time remaining x £200)
- Can we avail 'Premium in person' application option?
- My understanding is my wife will only require a further stay of 27 months to qualify for ILR so does she still need to pay 1400 as surcharge?
- I was already on ILR when my wife applied for the first time on 'join family in the UK' and she was given 33 months visa, is FLR(M) the application form I should be using to apply for renewal?

Any inputs from you will be much appreciated.

Many Thanks in advance.

No, she only has to pay £500. Only payable for her not for you.
- Can we avail 'Premium in person' application option?
Yes, £993 visa fee PLUS £590 premium service fee.
- My understanding is my wife will only require a further stay of 27 months to qualify for ILR so does she still need to pay 1400 as surcharge?
She will get a visa for exactly 2.5 years. £500 Surcharge as already stated.
- I was already on ILR when my wife applied for the first time on 'join family in the UK' and she was given 33 months visa, is FLR(M) the application form I should be using to apply for renewal?
FLR(M) yes.
