baby born in India after father got british passport

Post by rkiran » Sat Jul 15, 2017 12:07 pm

Hi
Me and my wife both have UK ILR.

I applied for British citizen in February 2017, I got citizenship Invitation letter on 14-6-2017 that same day my second baby born in India, I am going to take oath on 25-7-2017 in UK.

We are settled in UK and planning to stay in UK.

1. My question is can we apply for UK Citizenship for my younger son in India.

2. Or do we need to apply for ILE visa to come to UK and then apply the UK citizen ship in this case which visa should we apply.

3. I am happy to wait until I get British citizenship then directly apply for British passport for baby from India if my baby qualify to get citizen ship only after getting my British citizen and passport.

Please help us in processing the baby application.

1. No because you are only British once you attend your ceremony and not from date of approval letter.

2. Yes you have to apply for a child settlement visa. You will have to pay the £1494 visa fee plus £600 health surcharge.

3. You can't because neither you or your child is British.

Pity child wasn't born in the UK as then child would have been automatically British and could have applied directly for a passport.
