Using GP (NHS) while on the visitor visa

Post by Lilirose » Mon Jul 17, 2017 6:32 pm

Hi everyone,
I am planning to apply for a 5 years visitor visa for my mum. She has been in the UK previously and had one 6 month and one 2 years visas. She is 68 and in one of her visits we went to the local surgery (GP) to check her blood pressure. They did not ask for any information and just registered her and gave her a NHS number. We did not use any hospital treatments it was just GP in her visits for blood pressure and some abdominal pains she had.
Now I am in the process of completing a new application and it ask if we received any medical treatment in the UK. I answered yes to that question. I also went to the surgery and asked for any money we need to pay and they said because they registered her as a resident we do not need to pay and they did not know who I need to contact for any further information. Would you please advise me what is the best to do in this situation? do you think they can reject her visa because of this? is it better not to mention we went to GP?
Thank you
Lili

This is the third time you've posted the same question in a short period of time. Please be patient and wait until someone is able to advise you.

Sorry this is my first time posting here. I probably did it by mistake.

She isn't a 'resident' so should not have been registered as that. She is a visitor and it was her/your responsibility to make this very clear to the GP surgery as she is not entitled to free NHS at all.

If you answer yes and don't have proof of payment for services, you have a problem.

If you answer no and hope for the best, you also have a problem as HO do check NHS records.

Thank you very much. So what do you think I need to do? is there any specific organization I need to call? I am happy to make any payment they ask and get the recipe but the surgery said they can not do it.
We did tell them she is a visitor at the time we went.
i also found below link that says GP services remain free. Do you think it help if I add it in the additional information part?

Hi Lillrose,

Did you get around the situation ? I am in the same situation as you.
My parents used GP service as unpaid, I am now currently making new visit visa application and stuck with the question regarding NHS service.
Your response is much appreciated
Thanks

You should start your own topic rather than tag onto old threads.

If they have used NHS services and not paid, then you need to answer yes to the question.

Thank you, Another user posted that, he answered yes and his visa got rejected.
So there is no proper advise on how we should progress about this.

Hi
I am in a similar situation. Do you know what was the outcome of the application?

How can we pay the NHS, we have not received any Invoice?

Did anyone resolve this issue?
GP says there is no charge and saw the patient and registered, how do we overcome this.

We saw a private consultant after GP and paid for his services
