Leaving/Changing job just after application?

Post by pce950 » Sat Jul 08, 2017 9:34 pm

Hi

I'm planning on applying for my wife's visa at the end of this month but the thing is there are a few very good jobs that I'm wanting to apply for and hope I may get. They will be very good for my career.I'm applying under Cat A around the end of this month(will have been at current job more than 6 months and I earn above £18600 and new job (s) are above £18600)and I will find out if I get the new job about three weeks after I submit my spouse application.

My notice period for my current job will be 3 months and I will probably be working my notice period during the spouse application (assuming application takes 12 weeks).

My worry is that do I pass on a new job and the opportunities it will give me both financially and career wise just to not risk the spouse application?or accept the new job? My worry is that an eco will ring my current employer and even though I will still be working there during my notice period, but they might say "oh yes so and so is working here but he handed in his notice and is due to leave in the next month or so and is working his notice period".

Would really appreciate your advice?

I think you know all the pros and cons yourself. But yes few things can help you decide

1. ECO considers your circumstances at the time of submission of application but its better to be with same employer for positive outcome.

2. Its not mandatory for each and every application that HO will call the employer especially if its a bigger company / known employer *** It depends on the case as each has its own circumstances***

3. You can attempt for new opportunities and can negotiate for a later joining date.

4. You can delay visa application until you have joined new job and can apply under Cat B **conditional you get the job**

Nobody can advise you, as you know better your circumstances and what takes precedence.

Good luck

Changing job after application but still in notice period?

Post by pce950 » Wed Jul 19, 2017 7:07 pm

Hi

I'm wanting to change job and this will happen after I have applied for my spouse visa under category a. I earn over 18600 and will apply after I've done 6 months at my current employer. My question is I anticipate to apply for a better job soon after applying (as I anticipate there will be a vacancy a few weeks after my application and this will also be above £18600).

If I apply for the job, get the job and I hand in my notice period at my current employer, which will mean I will still at be my current job for about 10 weeks in my notice period (this will probably be whilst visa application is processing), will this be Ok?

Do I have to meet the requirements at the time of application?

Yes you can change job after submitting application as only the documents till application time will be considered. But if during the application processing time the caseworker try to contact your present employer then it may delay the application, therefore, preferably don't change job until the successful receipt of visa.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
