Hi there I wonder if anybody can help me. My wife is UK permanent resident. We are both south African citizens. She returned to south Africa 5months ago to give birth to our son as we were worried I wouldn't get a visa because I had just returned from the UK on a visit visa. She is now returning to the UK and I'd like to know what visa our 11week old son would need to enter UK with her. I will be remaining in SA and joining them at a later stage

Same visa as you, spouse/child settlement visa and unlikely the child will get the visa if you are not applying at the same time.

She will now have to meet £22,400pa income requirement as the child is not British.

Had the child been born I the UK, the child would have been automatically British.

I figured as much, just thought seeing as he is an infant and dependant on his mother that there might be an exception of some sort
