BRP (permanent residence) name ERROR

Post by akshar » Sat Jul 22, 2017 1:30 pm

Hi all,

Another question I have now is regarding my BRP (PR) card non eea of family member of an eea national. I have applied in january 2017 and I received it last week and I noticed that there was a mistake on my name which my solicitor report the error online within 10 days that I received the BRP card and now waiting for reply it said within 5 working days they will what should I do next. My name on passport is Sharam S/O xxxx and it how it appears in middle-east and asia on the passport. On the application my solicitor wrote same thing and I received my BRP and it appears as Sharam Exxxxxx Kxxxxx. As exxxx is my father's name and kxxxx is my surname so it should been Sharam Kxxxxx not Sharam Exxxxxx Kxxxxxxx. Even on my 5 year residence documentation it is written as Sharam Kxxxxxx, driving Licence, certificates, bills everything. I really want to know if anyone can help me please how long it will take until I will be receiving my new BRP card, as I have the most inexperienced and ignorant solicitor and tells me that it takes up to 6 months. :( :(

Please do not post your full name on the forum.

Your name on your card will be as it appears in your passport.

But in my residence documentation it appears as Sharam Khalixxx, literally on everthing. In the passport it says Sharam son of eliaxxx khalixxx. and this should not be on the BRP card, as even on my 5 year residence card and my 6 month permit it was writen as Sharam Khalixxx. I think maybe my solicitor made this error and wrote my name as that. In my certificates, driving licence, Birth certificate it is written as Sharam Khalixxx my first name and my surname and I dont have any middle name and it is the first time it appears on any document. In addition the way it it written as Sharam son of Eliaxxx Khalixxxx on my passport is due to the fact that in the middle countries and asia that is how they write it on passport and it shouldn't appear on any of my document as I am son of this person.

Maybe that was the one with the error.

If your passport says Sharam Exxxxx Kxxxxxx, then that is what your BRP card should say.

It is not the BRP team fault, but this error was from the beginning even when I received the COA letter and and biometric letter it was written as Sharam Eliaxxx Khalixx and that time I was thinking maybe that is only a letter as it is linked with my father because i am his son and I am reliant on him I didn't know the name will come like this in the BRP card.

NOW my question is, will this go back to my caseworker and he will review it again because it is not the BRP team error neither mine. Also how long maximum it may take is someone please give some advice would really really appreciate as my sister need to apply for student finance and she is going uni in september and I am going in August we need the BRP card. Or do you think I should write them a strong cover letter and when they ask for the BRP to return to them I will send the cover letter with the BRP ?

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. BRP Name ERROR. help please!

Post by akshar » Wed Jul 26, 2017 6:46 pm

Dears I need advice it is very urgent,

I have received my BRP permanent residence, in my BRP card my name is written as AA BB CC (First name, Middle name, Surname) which I don't have middle name so BB should not be mentioned in my BRP card. I have reported the error to the HO as soon I received it, after five working days I received email saying "Thank you for notifying us of a possible error on a Residence Card (Biometric Format) (BRC).
We have investigated this matter and the information shown on the BRC is correct according to Home Office records".
"If you still believe the BRC is incorrect, you should first consult the guidance on our website at https://www.gov.uk/visas-immigration "

On my passport my name shows as AA son of BB CC, whereas in the asian/Middleast countries it is cultural thing.Even on my resicene card 5 years it is shown as AA CC, my first name and surname. Now I am really worried that in my driving licence, university, colleges, bank, certificate and many more my name is AA CC.

Obviously Home office said they can't change as it is what it appears on my passport, but is it going to have impact in the future ??? when applying for BRITISH NATURALISATION?? also should I inform my bank and university and driving license to change my name from AA CC to AA BB CC ???? how imporant is middlename lets say I accept this and it will appear in my BRP and anywhere else my name is written as my first name and surname ???? really need help please

I don't really have an answer to this, but have you looked at the Form AN - check out page 3 and 4; 1.5 -1.8.

A lot of people don't use their middle name.

Some of my bank account has my nameunit1 nameunit2 Surname, some only has nameunit1 Surname.
On my driving licence: 1= Surname 2. Full name= nameunit1 nameunit2

On my passport is Surname Nameunit1 nameunit2 - this is also on my PRC and all my previous permits.

Hope this gives you some peace of mind.

Hi ribena
thank you. Lets say i keep my name as it appears on my BRP card AA BB CC. In my residence card which was 5 years it was written as AA CC. Now in every where my name is as AA CC that is why. So my question is let's say I accept what it appears on my BRP card, now should I change my driving license and university and other like bank, insurance number, etc.. or I can keep it as the same without having middle name ???? and from now on what should I give my name as AA BB CC or AA CC??? HOW IMPORTANT MIDDLE NAME IS ???

Sahram,

I do not have the answer you are seeking for.

Have you thought of asking/explaining to your bank/university/dvla etc on the new name situation and see what their reply?
