A2 or B1 Test?

Post by lincolnblade » Mon Jul 31, 2017 11:05 pm

Hello,

My wife has a spouse visa (LTR) for 2.5 years and it will need extending next year. She's on the 5 year route. I know that she will need to pass her A2 English test but is it possible for her to take the B1 and use that both to extend her visa and to apply for Permanent Leave to Remain/Citizenship after the 5 years even though the B1 will have expired. I read somewhere that it is possible to do that. Is that correct?

Many thanks.

She can do B1 if she wishes.

No one can tell you what the English requirement will be in 2.5 years for ILR and BC, currently B1 but it could change.

Many thanks. I'm assuming that the B1 only lasts two years. Will it still be usable in 2.5 years assuming that they haven't changed the requirements? I read somewhere that it can still be used even though it's expired.
