Non EEA seeking to join Irish Spouse

Post by prez365 » Wed Aug 02, 2017 9:04 pm

Hi
I would like to find out what would be the best possible way to join my Spouse in Ireland.

I am a Non EEA (Zimbabwean) with Indefinite leave to remain in the UK. My fiance is an Irish Citizen. We are getting Married in the UK in the next few months and i currently have a Short Stay C type Multiple Entry Visa into Ireland that expires late 2018.

My question is Once we are Married, shall i apply for a long stay Join Spouse Visa here in the UK or shall i travel on my Short Stay C visa to Ireland and then apply for a Long stay whilst i am there.

What are the options that are avail.

Your help would be appreciated.

If you have ILR in the UK, why not apply for British citizenship to avoid losing your ILR status? You can then move freely without a visa.

We have decided that me moving to Ireland is the option for both of us. If she was to move over here then i would go through the process of applying for British Citizenship. Unfortunately the process for applying for British Citizenship right now will prolong the time for me to move to Ireland. Or am i wrong?

Current timelines for British citizenship is roughly 3 to 4 months and you can apply through NCS at the council for citizenship and the passport simultaneously. This way you get to hang onto your passport and original documents.

Assuming of course that you meet the requirements for citizenship.
