Visa for my Wife to join me (ILR holder) in UK

Post by mantrimandal » Thu Aug 03, 2017 1:04 pm

Hello,

I am needing help on the visa application we need to make for my future-wife (marriage planned for Oct 2017) to join me in UK.
I am currently in process of making my application for ILR - Indefinite Leave to Remain (5 Year route through Tier 2 General) with home office here in UK. So when we apply visa for her, I will be holding an ILR.

Some specific queries I have are as follows:
[*] We registered on visa4UK website to make any early attempt to start filling out application for her and understand the requirements. However we are not able to determine the visa category we need her to select for the application. There are a few options which all look reasonable which has been throwing us off.
The options are:
First One
Reason for Visit: Work
Visa Type: Non Point-Based working visa
Visa Sub Type: Dependents more than 6 months

or

Reason for Visit: Settlement
Visa Type: Settlement
Visa Sub Type: Wife

[*] What documents (from both my future-wife and me) will we require for application we need to make based on the above question. (Please note this is more of an arranged marriage situation so proof of long term relationship is not really available - through we have known each other for quite sometime now and have met each other few times with me travelling to India couple of times in last few months).

[*] what are the visa processing times for this application type? and if there is any priority service offered to speed up the application process, if so what are the processing times for application made with priority service?

I would like to thank you all in advance for your help with my query. Really appreciate all the advice I can get.

Thank you and regards,

You can only apply once you are married.
Reason for Visit: Settlement
Visa Type: Settlement
Visa Sub Type: Wife
This option, assuming your ILR is approved.

Evidence of communication, evidence of marriage celebration, 6 months payslips and bank statements assuming you are in employment and not self employed, to prove you meet the financial requirements. Proof of adequate accommodation.
[*] what are the visa processing times for this application type? and if there is any priority service offered to speed up the application process, if so what are the processing times for application made with priority service?
Priority does not guarantee a quicker response. Some members have been waiting since February already, some longer

CR001 - Thanks for the quick reply
You can only apply once you are married.
Yes the application will be made following the wedding in Oct 2017.
Reason for Visit: Settlement
Visa Type: Settlement
Visa Sub Type: Wife

This option, assuming your ILR is approved.
Thanks.

Evidence of communication - we usually have our conversation online via skype, facetime, or whtsapp ... so dont really have itemized phone bills to prove such. What are other alternatives for this? Can you suggest a few?

Evidence of Marriage celebration - I am planning for wedding invitation cards, photographs and marriage certificate to be provided. will this suffice?

Payslips and bank statements - these can be arranged, so shouldn't be a problem and yes I can confirm I meet the required financial requirements.

Proof of adequate accommodation - what is classified as adequate accommodation? will tenancy agreement, letter from letting agency and some photographs of the property suffice?

Screenshots of those will suffice.

Should be fine yes.
Payslips and bank statements - these can be arranged, so shouldn't be a problem and yes I can confirm I meet the required financial requirements.
If you get online payslips, they must be verified and stamped by your employer. Online bank statements printed by yourself won't be accepted. You will also need a letter from your employer detailing your salary, how long you have worked there, what your job is etc.
Proof of adequate accommodation - what is classified as adequate accommodation? will tenancy agreement, letter from letting agency and some photographs of the property suffice?
It depends on your accommodation. If you live in a shared property, you will need a property inspection report to prove it is not overcrowded. If you live in a property on your own exclusively, tenancy agreement, letter of no objection from landlord re your wife and a utility bill.

Hello,

I am unable to understand what are the requirements regarding submission of original documents to Sheffield office.

Some sources state that for standard applications these need to be sent to Sheffield with a self addressed return envelope within 20 working days of submitting bio-metrics at the VFS, and 10 working days for priority applications.
https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/india/pdf/I ... icants.pdf
https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/india/pdf/s ... cument.pdf

And other sources state that for priority applications made at certain VFS offices will scan the documents and sent it to Sheffield, and there is no need for sponsor/applicant to sent these out directly to Sheffield.
https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/india/pdf/W ... lement.pdf

There is no date on these circulars, so I cannot identify which is the most recent instruction for applicants and their sponsors.

Also reading the forums, there seem to be confusion regarding the address the application needs to be posted to, can someone please help me with obtaining the right address for this? is this the same as in the circulars i mentioned above?
and what are the suitable courier companies that we can use for India (I have lived in UK for past decade so not aware much about Indian courier companies that deliver to PO BOX addresses, as I understand some do not provide this facility)
Can the documents be sent from VFS office? (with additional fee?)

Thank you and Good luck with our own applications :)
