"Visa escalated to home office" - Advice needed

Post by ricardoflanigano » Tue Aug 08, 2017 1:32 am

Hi all,

I am an Australian applying for a Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa.

The 15 working day waiting period lapsed and I was getting concerned as I had not heard back about my visa yet.

I paid the fee to contact the email service and provided my GWF, IHS, Type of visa, date of biometrics, brief reason for escalation etc and have not heard back yet.

I called the international phone service and all the operator could tell me was that the application had been "escalated to the home office" and that it may take an extra 15 working days to process the application.

My plane ticket is booked for August 31 so as you can imagine I'm starting to freak out that I'm not going to get it approved in time to make my flight.

The only thing I think it might regarding is a drink driving offence I had in 2012. It was extremely minor (.068% when the lower limit was .05%). I declared it on the application form, but I stupidly didn't supply the documents with my application.

Can anyone give me a sense of what my chances are of making my flight?

No one can tell you why there is a delay. These visas don't usually take very long, a month usually.
