Dependent visa after ILR (through 10 Year route)

Post by arunuk » Tue Aug 08, 2017 11:27 am

Hi,
I have been living in the UK for close to 10 years now with a mix of student and tier2 general visa. My wife has moved here in December 2016 and her tier 2 dependent visa expires in July 2018. I'm looking to apply for ILR using the set(LR) form soon. I was wondering, will my wife have to switch her visa to set(M) as soon as I apply for my ILR. Or can I extend her dependant visa when it is due to expire.

You can renew when the T2 dependent visa is due to expire.

But her ILR clock will be reset to zero when she switches to FLR(M) and she will need five years of being on FLR(M) in order to qualify for ILR. So, the earlier she switches to FLR(M), the faster it will be for her to get to ILR.

See PBS dependent of ILR Long Residence applicant (click).

She should switch to FLR(M) as soon as she can in case there is any emergency travel for example.

Just to be clear, you cannot renew or extend her current PBS Dependent visa.
