Do I need a solicitor?

Post by Loverman » Mon Aug 14, 2017 10:03 am

I am a UK born national, full time employed, living with parents, getting married in india.
I was wondering whether any part of the application for a spouse visa requires a solicitor?

Do I need to do anything that requires a notary?
Or can I do the whole thing myself?

No

Certified copy of your British passport. Everything else needs to be original.
Or can I do the whole thing myself?
Yes.

Excellent thank you.

A couple more questions:

When I complete the form online.. do I send my documents and the application form etc to india for my wife to submit?

Can the documents and evidence be produced prior to the marriage date?

I am planning to get married next week and would like to take as much as I can with me if everything needs to be sent to india.

I think I've got everything I need for the application it's just the process it takes is a little bit unclear to me right now.

The most recent payslips and bank statements cannot be older than 28 days at the time of application.

Supporting documents I believe are sent to Sheffield. The online process, once complete, will tell you what to do.

She can only apply once married.

On the topic of a certified copy of passport.. is it just the main page I need or a copy of each page?

Biometric page. Post Office does certifying too for less than a notary public.
