Residence Cards not valid after UK leaves EU

Post by nikt88 » Wed Aug 16, 2017 10:33 am

Hello everyone, I just checked government website for EEA FM , there i have found this :

''How long it lasts for
A residence card usually lasts up to 5 years. However, your residence card won’t be valid after the UK leaves the EU.

A new scheme will be available for EU citizens and their family members to apply to stay in the UK after the UK leaves the EU.

If your residence card expires before the new scheme is available, you should reapply for another residence card."

What do you think guys ?

This is the aspiration - currently it's business as usual.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

As always it's all about the money. But for all of us it means headache again and who knows what they gonna do again. I already struggle with them over one year and I have enough.

Hi all
I worry about this as well. Mostly about A fee for registration as Eea citizen. As as I'm concerned, Ilr costs just over £1200.Not sure what Mrs May has got on her mind talking about reasonable price.

ILR u see the UK immigration rules costs +/- £2200 postal and £2887 for in person, not £1200.

Yes, I'm very annoyed about this. After navigating the 85 page form and being without my passport for 4 months and paying my fee, it stated nowhere that it would be invalid after Brexit. How is this even legal? It's called permanent residence. There's no limit on ILR for non EU citizens, how is this fair to expect those who have applied for PR before Brexit to now endure more bureaucracy after Brexit? Now I feel like I'm forced to apply for citizenship, pay £1282 plus pay Naric to prove my degree meets the English requirement, etc etc. Terrible way to treat hard working EU citizens.
