Criminal certificate for switching employer

The guidance says you need a certificate for entry clearance but not for extending
What about switching employer then? It's not technically applying for permission to enter the country but then I would be applying for a new visa.

Has anyone got experience with this?

It says 'ENTRY CLEARANCE' does it not??

If you are switching employers within the UK, you are applying for an EXTENSION!
