Tier 4 Dependant Work Rights

Post by Rachel0202 » Fri Aug 25, 2017 11:14 am

Hi, guys

I and my spouse recently got tier 4 visas for the duration of 16 months as I will by studying full time on a Master's course. However, we are confused about my spouse's right to work. The entry clearance doesn't state the number of hours he may work per week :| As I knew from my previous experience, the tier 4 dependent was eligible to work only 20 hours per week. But now we aren't sure if it's still same or any changes have applied. Some sources claim that dependent of tier 4 student may actually work full time 😀 Which is great, of course. Could anyone advise me if it is true or not?

His entry clearance says:
PBS dependant restricted. No Dr/Den train. No Sport. No public funds. I understand what all the above means except for... can he work full time or only part time?? There is noting on the entry clearance that might clarify the situation.

Thank you all as this forum guided us through the visa application process and we received a positive decision on our applications 🙏🏼❤️

The 20 hours working restriction is ONLY applicable to the MAIN tier 4 visa holder.

Your partner on a dependent visa is allowed to work full time.

An entry clearance vignette states any restrictions on the work the holder can do. Tier 4 General migrants have a restriction on hours they can work, hence that is on the vignette. Other visa holders do not have such a restriction on hours, but they will have other restrictions.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.
