Need help - EEA FP excessive Delay and RC processing time

Post by EEAFP » Sun Aug 27, 2017 7:07 pm

Hi,

My wife and I have been following this forum for a while and it has helped us a lot in preparing our EEA FP application, thank you to all the moderators and contributors. We applied for EEA FP in May and having read many different experiences here on the forum, eventually, our file ended up being 60 pages long (we ended up adding all possible documents such as financial history, employment records, our lease in the UK, relationship proof (email and travel tickets) going all the way back to 2011 etc).

For the sake of convenience and clarity, will break our question in four parts:

1.) it has been awfully long (almost 4 months) since we submitted our application and we are yet to hear about a decision. We have tried contacting the UKVI (email and phone) several times through their prescribed channels, but besides the standard reply, "we will escalate your complaint," haven't heard anything else? Are there any other alternate contacts, email or phone?

Below is our timeline:
Application and boimetrics submitted: May 04, 2017
Application location: Paris
"Processing of your application has not been straightforward.." mail received: May 23, 2017
Since then it has been complete radio silence.

2.) What is the application process for Residence Card, after EEA FP, which as I understand would only be valid for 6 months?

3.) If the EEA FP takes so long, how long would the RC take? At some places we have read that it could take as long as 6 months, is that true? If so, is one just supposed to sit at one place for almost an entire year, while waiting for a damned visa (apologies for my language, but it has been a frustrating time)?

4.) Suppose we get EEA FP in September, an we move back (my wife and I have already been living in the UK for about a year). We have a travel planned in January and were thinking of applying for RC after that, is that possible or would that be too late?

We would really appreciate any suggestions or replies and wish you the best with your application.

Are you an EU citizen (non British)?

If she was living in the UK, why didn't she apply for a residence card at that point?

Hi CR001,

Thanks for your reply and apologies, I guess I should have explained this part earlier.

I am from India and my wife is French. We got married in France and soon after applied for EEA FP in Paris. Although we have some questions regarding our EEA FP application and its processing, we are also trying to collect as much information as possible on Residence Card application.

Hope that helps.
