Tier 2 Dependent Visa Doc Lost

Post by kpatel306 » Wed Aug 30, 2017 2:40 pm

Hi There,

I am on Tier 2 General dependent visa in UK - my visa is expiring on 13-Sep-2017.

Last week, I applied for the extension and send my documents (filled online form, Passport, BRP Card, etc) to UKBA through Royal Mail first class post. Its been 5 working days now, but my document is not delivered yet - so i am assuming that its lost.

If anyone can guide me on :
1) What would be my next step?
2) Post expiry of visa - i would be allowed to stay in the UK up to 60 days?
3) UKBA would reconsider my application without asking to re-pay application fees?

Thanks,
KP

Why do you assume it is lost?

Documents were posted on 24-Aug-2017, First Class (Signed for) post - it is supposed to be delivered by now. Tracking on post office website is saying it’s under delivery, also called the post office but they don’t have any helpful information.

So considering 2 weeks left for the expiry date - it would be good if I know the next action plan for me.

So it isnt' actually 5 working days as you state. You start counting from the 25th as day 1 and then discount the 3 day bank holiday weekend.

yes you are right, still there is a chance that i will be delivered.

However, most of the time, first class post is delivered next day or mostly by 2nd working day. Even they do delivery on Saturday as well, so technically, its more than 3 working days now.

Do you have any idea, what would be my options / action plan?

I would suggest wait a few days as delays usually occur around bank holiday weekends. It could be that the RM website has not been updated. Have you tried calling RM to find out?

I did called post office customer care, but they dont have any useful information. What do you mean by RM?

So my plan is, I will wait until Friday afternoon and if it will not get delivered by than,..... i will have to take the action.

They would have been delivered.
As there are a lot of mails being delivered there, i suspect there is a sheet signature, which doesn't automatically transfer to RM tracker.
Take it easy, your docs are there.

Thanks for the reply.

is there any other way to confirm it? On Royal Mail tracker, its still showing the same status.

Without any confirmation, its bit risky now.... to assume its delivered.

No we don't as the user never came back to update after only posting the 4 posts.

Thanks CR001

is it possible to email him/her? if you can or provide me the email id? - It would be great help.

I sent a separate mail (asking them if they may have received the mail) through royal mail 1st class service on last week Friday and that mail was delivered today morning - now I am quite certain that my documents are lost.

if anyone can guide me:
1) What would be my next step?
2) Post expiry of visa - i would be allowed to stay in the UK up to 60 days?
3) UKBA would reconsider my application without asking to re-pay application fees?

I am sorry, I cannot provide you the personal contact information for any member registered on the forum, it would be a breach of their right to privacy. This is not permitted on the forum.

I am sorry, I cannot do that either as then I will be exposing my own personal email. Unless the user logs into the forum, there is nothing we can do to force the user to log in or respond to a member or contact the user outside of the forum.

Just to give an update to everyone here.

My document was delivered - i just received the email from Home Office confirming receipt of the document. They replied to me by email, back of my separate query letter i sent to them last week - so sending the query letter work for the confirmation. Royal mail tracker is still the same.

So, its better to send the document through Special Delivery than 1st class signed for.

Like i said before.. these docs are delivered and acknowledged using a delivery page.
If you work for a company that has royal mail collection point, you will see that all posts are sent out using paper based tracker, so using that to receive may not update the royal mail tracker straightaway. Its the same if you use special delivery.
