Becoming UK Citizen with Tier 2 Visa?

Post by julfow » Thu Aug 31, 2017 12:01 pm

Hello. I have a question about becoming UK citizen (naturalization). I am Turkish citizen and I have now tier 2 general visa to work in the UK. I will move next week to Scotland. It is indicated in the document given by the visa center that I am in 10 year route to settlement. What does that actually mean? I thought I would be able to apply for naturalization after living for 6 years in the UK and become UK citizen.

Does that mean I cannot become a citizen before 10 years?

Thanks everyone.

You cannot be on a '10 year route to settlement' if you are on a Tier 2 General visa.

What exactly does your visa state?

What application form did you use to apply for your current visa?

How long is the current visa valid for?

The term 'settlement' means ILR - Indefinite Leave to Remain
