Asylum interview letter not received !

Post by Hopeful25 » Sun Sep 03, 2017 2:14 pm

Hi,

I am hoping somebody can give advice or let me know if you have had a similar situation. I am from Iran and
I registered a fresh claim 4 years ago and still no answer from the home office.
In Jan 2017 I received a letter asking for 4 passport sized photographs which i sent back to them, no idea what this was for ?
Then on 09Aug 2017 home office called my solicitor and asked why i did not go to my asylum interview, myself or my solicitor did not get any letter with an appointment, it turns out the home office has made an admin error and never sent the letter. They said they will re arrange the appointment but it has been almost a month and still no new date has been given to me ? has this happend to anyone else ?
im so stressed with it all, everytime i hear the post man i just hope it is a letter from the home office.
Any feedback would be appreciated :)
thanks

illegal immigrant wanting to marry UK citizen

Post by Hopeful25 » Sun Sep 03, 2017 2:40 pm

Hi All,

I am in a similar situation, I am a British Citizen and my Fiance is from Iran, he had a fresh Claim 4 years ago and still no answer. We want to get married but now you need permission from the home office. How do you get their permission ? We have no contact number or email address for the home office the one we had does not work anymore. I know what you mean we just want a Family holiday too its so hard our lives are on hold. I hope you all get what you want very soon.

The process for a foreign national to marry in the UK is:
1. Register the intent to marry with a Home Office designated Registry office.
2. The Registrar is then required to notify the HO.
3. The HO will then decide whether the notification period should be extended from 28 to 70 days in order to interview you both separately should they choose to do so, before the wedding can go ahead.

Without legal status in the UK there is a risk of detention on the day of the interview.

Hi Casa,

thank you for your reply.
I have just called one of the registered offices and they said we need to contact the home office ourselves to get permission ?
Also why would they detain him just for asking to get married ? We have been living together for 3 years.

Because he has no legal status in the UK

If they wanted to detain him they would do that every 6 months when he goes to Liverpool to sign. I will call the home office tomorrow and hopefully get some answers.
Thank you for your replies
