IHS surcharges for overlapping periods

Post by serkan » Wed Sep 06, 2017 1:11 am

Hi,
I am on sponsored Tier 2 general visa, which was issued 4 months ago, and will expire by 10 April 2020. Now I am switching my employer, and made a fresh application of Tier 2 today. My new post will terminate by 20 November 2019. Since I already paid NHS surcharges 4 months ago covering period till 10 April 2020, and this period also overlaps with my current Tier 2 application, I used my IHS reference number of my 4 months ago visa application in my current new online Visa application, and HO website accepted this IHS reference number. After I consulted someone they told me that this my cause some problems. Next week I will attend my in person visa appointment. Now I wonder if this will be an issue for my application. I would be grateful if anyone can advise me on this matter.
Thanky you very much!
Serkan

i dont think u can use previous IHS number.
I would recommend to pay again, manually change the forms with the new number, explain in covering letter.
There are some cases, where people have been able to get the refund of original IHS on successful second application, but this is not certain.

Hi,
Thanks for your help. Home office guidelines are not clear about these issues.

IHS is payable for EACH application you make and you get a new IHS reference number each time you make a payment. Whether you get a refund of your other IHS is doubtful as you paid IHS for the duration of a visa that was issued. It is your choice to change sponsor so soon.

I hope you haven't resigned from your job yet?

Hi,
Thanks for reply. No I haven't resigned yet. Do you think there will be a problem, even if I pay IHS surcharge and during my appointment explain the situation to the case officer?

Thanks,
Serkan
