GMC Registration for ENT Specialist and having tier 2 dependent visa

Is ILETS exam compulsory for Tier 2 Dependents in order to apply for GMC Registration ?

I am asking this question for my husband, he is a Doctor and has done DNB ENT + 2 years of work experience.

There are two paths to GMC registeration

1. Give plab1 and plab 2 exams. for these you do need to give academic IELTS without which you cannot register for Plab1.

2. Give Mrcp1, mrcp2, and Paces exams and then get full gmc registeration. for these you do not need ielts but mrcp is a much tougher exam than plab.

withouth either plab or mrcp route you cannot work in uk as a doc unless he got his MBBS from UK medical school in which case he will be exempt from giving plab exams

he needs to look at gmc website. There are certain specialists which are exempt these too.. some years ago, anesthesia and peads used to be on the list. Not sure now.
However this is not immigration issue.. you are better off finding answer on facebook doctors groups.
