IHS Charge for PBS Dependant of ILR Holder (Tier 2 route)

Post by DBarr » Tue Sep 12, 2017 11:13 pm

I have ILR via the Tier 2 (General) Route. I got ILR in June 2016. My ILR doesn't have an expiry date but the BRP I received has an expiry date of December 2024 (more than 7 years away) which I suppose is just for the purpose of renewing the BRP (and possibly my photo).

My wife's PBS Dependant Visa which was based on my Tier 2 (General) visa is due to expire in Oct 2017 and as she hasn't finished her own 5 years, she needs to apply for an extension under the same PBS Dependant category (before applying for her own ILR at a later date). According to the rules, this application will give her an extension for another 3 years.

When filling her PBS dependant application online (which is the only option available now), the system asked for the Main Applicant's (my) details too, which seems reasonable. The problem however is with the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) which is also online (alpha release). Here, once again, her details were automatically loaded from the application and they asked for my (main applicant's) visa expiry date. I had previously stated on the application that I have ILR but there is still a request for an expiry date.

Options:
1. If I try to submit a blank application date it doesn't let me proceed.
2. If I put in my BRP expiry date of Dec 2024 it quotes an IHS of £1500 for my wife - we know fully well that her extension will only be for 3 years and her IHS should only come up to £600.
3. Finally, I filled in a new application and I put in an expiry date of 3 years from now and the system came up with the correct charge of £600.

My question is, am I within my rights to put in this non-existent expiry date of 3 years from now?

I'm not lying or making up this date but the system doesn't allow any other option. Also once you submit the IHS form, it gets completely locked down and the only option is to start a completely new application. I've done this twice already but have stopped on the Payment screen as I know that there's no turning back from there. However, we are quickly running out of time.

Please could someone advise us on the correct process to do this?

Please note that removing my details (as main applicant) from the form [as some others on this forum have suggested] is not an option as the system doesn't allow it.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

1. Kindly start your own topic with your questions rather than digging one up that is more than a year old. The user has not logged into the forum since September last year

2. You put your ILR expiry date as 3 years from now to get the correct Ihs fee.

Thank you for your very helpful reply.
I haven’t used the forum before so didn’t really know how it works. Guess I am lucky you pocked it up.
Thanks again for your help.
Kindest regards
