Do i need to re pay IHS

Post by Noor1991 » Tue Sep 19, 2017 11:27 pm

Hi everyone. I made an Flrfp application on the basic of living together 2 years with my British (English) fiancée and I paid the IHS charge of £500.
Unfortunately my application got refused. Recently we have contracted our marriage at the registry office. We are making a new application on the basic of marriage and living together as a partners for more than 2 years.
My question is, do I need to re-pay the IHS again, or can I simply re use my old IHS reference number with the new application ???
Looking forward to hear from you soon.

You need to re pay as the old one must have been already refunded or will be soon.

Look, I have just put my new application in on the basic of marriage last week (11th September). My solicitor suggested me to re-use the old IHS reference number that I used on my last application which got refused. They insistent me as I never apply for refund & haven't get it refunded, I should be all right to re-use the same IHS reference number, so I did.
I am really stressed now. I really do not want my application turn back because of the IHS issue. Could you kindly let me know what should I do now pleaaaaaaaaaase ....

There is a chance your solicitor is right.
But you don't need to panick because if there is a problem they will write to you giving you 10 days to pay they won't send application back for this reason only.

You cannot use an IHS number that has already been used for an application subsequently refused. You have to pay again and get a new number for each application you make as the IHS paid for the refused application will be refunded, usually within a couple of days but up to 90 days later.
