MN1 and passport application (JCAP)

Post by ochahrour » Wed Sep 27, 2017 6:09 pm

Hi All,

I was granted my ILR on 22 Sep 2017 after a Premium appointment in Belfast office (10 years route: student + tier2). The ILR BRP was received within 3 days. Thank you CR001 for your answers that helped me during the application process.

As the service is not available in Northern Ireland, I booked an appointment on 17 Oct at Westminster/London for MN1 and passport application (JCAP) for my two kids. Six and three years old, both born in the UK.
My MN1 will be based on Section 1(3). Only one parent (myself) has ILR.
Is the mother of the kids required to attend the appointment?
Does she need to sign the passport form or can I sign it as the father?
I will get her to sign the MN1 form where required.
Do we need to fill the referees section of the passport application or does the MN1 referees suffice?
Many thanks for your help.

Not sure, what does the passport guidance booklet say?

The mother automatically has parental responsibility and can sign section 9 - declaration of the passport application.

The father can sign if:
- was married to mother at time of child birth
-named on birth certificate which was registered after 2002 (for northern Ireland).

so it seems that it is OK for me to sign
