Dependent visa on my 3.6yrs old son who is a British Citizen

Post by yogini » Thu Sep 28, 2017 9:02 am

Hi All,
I am presently on Spouse Dependent Visa on my husband who is a British Citizen whic expires in december next year. My 3.6 yrs old son also has British Citizenship. Is there any way by which I can either get a long term dependent visa on my son or ILR on the basis of being a mother of British Citizen. And when can I apply for British Passport?

Thank you in advance!
Regards,
Yogini

No there is not. There is no shorter route. You can only apply based on your son if you are single.

To apply for British citizenship you need ILR first.

Generally, leave to remain based on being a parent leads to a longer timeframe (10 years) to ILR than being a spouse (5 years). Is there any reason that you wish to switch?

As CR001 has advised, ILR is a pre-requisite to citizenship. As the spouse of a British citizen, you can apply for citizenship immediatly after getting ILR.
