Tier 2 Visa Refused

I am currently on a Tier 2 General Visa which doesn't expire until 2019. I have been offered a job with another employer and have applied for the visa (currently waiting to hear back).

If for some reason this new visa is rejected - what happens to my current visa with my current employer? Will I be given my Bio-metric Residence Card back and be able to carry on as I was? Just forgetting the rejected visa with the new employer? Will this go on my immigration record and will I be asked about it when entering the UK?
