curtailment of leave tier 2 general

I have a quick question about the the curtailment of Tier 2 visa. The contract with my current company will be ended by the end of Oct this year. According to my understanding, there is 60 days of curtailment of leave. I would like to know whether I still can find a new job within this period?

If your employment ends, your employer must notify HO within 10 days of your last working day. A curtailment letter can take many months to get sent to you.

Are they not prepared to renew/extend your Tier 2 General visa?
