ILR based on UK Ancestry

Post by Milly1987 » Tue Oct 03, 2017 10:57 am

Hello All,

I am a Nigerian on an Ancestry Visa in the UK expiring in November. I am now applying for my ILR in October (Same day service). I need some advice on some issues.

1. When I applied for my Ancestry visa back in Nigeria I provided my Dad's Birth cert, Grandad birth, death certificate I got online and my Mom and Dad's Divorce letter from the court.
As this is still a requirement for ILR, I would not be able to provide my Dad's birth certificate as he has refused to give it to me based on family issues. Will a cover letter indicating while I am unable to provide this suffice?
Note: I used his birth certificate for my initial application and Home office verified its authenticity.

2. My birth certificate is lost - Back in Nigeria I was first refused based on this. Although I provided a police report, Age declaration from a court but this was not enough. I was then told to get a letter from some Population company which I did and then reapplied and It was Approved.
I have looked for this letter but I can't find it. Seems like the Home Office took it because I have all the documents the way I received it back from the Home office but that's the only letter that's missing.
My questions is will I be able to get a cover letter to why I would not be able to supply this document and add the police report and age declaration letter that I have. Will this be ok?
I might be able to get the letter but I might have to physically travel to Nigeria for this.

3. I have worked as self employed and through my registered company. My company was registered 2012, will company tax for the last 4 years be ok?

4. Will bank statement of 6 months be ok?

5. I have been a contractor. I started my current contract in June, 2017. I'm assuming that won't be enough, Do I need all my contracts for the past 5 years or can I just get my current contract which is still on going until Jan, 2018 and previous contract ?

6. I have not stayed outside the UK for more than 3 months at a time. Will a copy of all my passport page and ticket printout of all my trips in the last 5 years be ok?

Apologies this is a lot to read but I thought I put everything out for you to understand my situation. Thanks in advance for your help.

Have a read through this entire topic of ILR success from Ancestry visa. The user also lists, near the end, what was submitted.

Many thanks. I have actually read that before posting mine.

Could you please help with the situation about not being able to provide my Dad's Birth Certificate and Mine?

I don't have an answer for you unfortunately. If you don't have it, all you can do is explain why. Where was your father born?

My father was born in Nigeria. My granddad went to Nigeria and married my Grand ma and had my dad in Nigeria.
My granddad later came back to the UK and that was where he passed.

Hello,

My same day service appointment was last Saturday the 21st of October, 2017.
A decision was not made on the day and I was given a letter that further checks needs to be carried out and I will be called for further information.

Was wondering how this will take because the reason why I did same day was because I did not want to have hypertension waiting on a decision, now I find myself waiting. I am just hoping everything goes well. The case worker told me that it's not to do with my Dads birth certificate or my Birth certificate which I could not provide as he already seen a copy from my first Ancestry visa Application made 5 years ago so that's a relief.

Since I am self employed I know its something to do with my tax return or corporation tax for the past 5 years. I am sure I will be contact within the next few days. Please pray I get my ILR as my family is dependant on this to be able to settle in the UK.
