NCS JCAP vs mail in MN1 & 1-week Fast Track Service

Post by mburdett02 » Tue Oct 03, 2017 7:16 pm

My wife and I were granted ILR via 10 year long residency last week. We have a 7 month old baby that was born in the UK and we want to get her a UK passport. We know we have to register her as a UK citizen first using the MN1 form. What would be the fastest way to get the UK passport now? (1) Use the local council’s NCS JCAP service knowing the next available appointment isn’t for 10-12 days or (2) mail in the MN1 form ourselves in the next couple of days and do the 1-week Fast Track Service for her UK passport once she is granted UK citizenship? Also, is it likely either scenario will mean we will get her UK passport by mid-November 2017?

Hi

Based on my experience and reading through the info in forums there is 0% chance that you will get passport by mid-November. I would strongly suggest do not make any plans for holiday/travel unless your little one already has valid visa and if you do application through NCS you can keep original documents and travel with it.

The earliest possible case I saw here was I think Application was approved just after one month and then 1 week for passport (1 or 2 cases). Usually processing time is 3 months and 1 week for fast track. So please allow 3.5 months minimum for your passport.

All the best with application.

For all applications. Appying through NCS does not 'speed up' the process.

Highly unlikely that you will get a passport before mid November. Just the MN1 process takes a couple of months and you need that approval before a passport will be issued.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I guess I'll book the NCS JCAP and postpone travelling until it all comes through.
