ILR for Dependants queries

Post by abhi_011 » Sat Oct 14, 2017 8:55 am

Hi All,

I am UK passport holder which I got through Tier 1 route early this year. Now my wife and daughter (born outside UK) are eligible for ILR (based on 5 year stay). They are on Tier 1 dependant visa which is valid till early next year.

Can someone please help me on following:

1. Is Set(O) form eligible for both of them?

2. Do I need to provide any of my or wife's financial documents (paylsips or bank statements)

3. Any pointers to dependant child documents checklist will be helpful.

Thanks,
Abhi

1. Yes. One form for both of them. Wife as main applicant.

2. No.

3. Follow the checklist on the form.

thanks a lot CR001, greatly appreciated your response. However i have one more query regarding the English requirement & degree comparability.

1) Though my wife has letter from her University that her degree was taught in English. Would that suffice as evidence for English requirement? or should she go for English assessment test as well.

2) Secondly being dependent does she need to provide a NARIC comparability certificate? It seems like PBS calculator is no more in existence.

Though i am aware you replied on similar looking query few days ago. However i wanted to double check again.

1. She needs to do NARICA ELA UKCVI red route and submit the NARIC result PLUS her degree certificate etc.

2. See #1 above.

thanks again.

As i understand UK NARIC ELA UK CVI red route covers both English Language Assessment and Degree Comparability. Is my understanding correct?

I am trying to understand the reason why she would need to take red route( both NARIC ELA & NARIC Comparability ) as she already has letter from her Indian University stating that the degree / medium of study was English. Wouldn't that already cover her ELA part?

Is it something to do with, that i am now British passport holder or any other change of rule; that letter stating medium of English from foreign Institution is not accepted any more. Kindly advise.

Regards,
Abhi

She needs NARIC or an English B1 test. Your choice if you want to risk using the University letter and risk a refusal and loss of fee.

No it has nothing to do with your status. ALL applicants for ILR must meet the same requirements.

thanks, that does clear the doubt.

As we have only 2 weeks left for appointment, so probably B1 test would be quicker and cheaper than NARIC as i would have to go for fast track .

Many thanks,
Abhi

Standard NARIC and B1 test cost the same. Test is quicker though. Just make sure it is with one of HO's approved test providers.
