Visa Fees for child

Just hoping for some clarification from someone here....

you will hopefully be able to calm me down a bit as after browsing immigration info online I came across info on fees which said that each 'dependent' added to a an application for a family type visa costs £1464

but I read elsewhere that this would apply to adult dependents.

My situation is that of a fiance of a partner with a 10-year-old child planning to bring both of them to the UK on a fiance visa....is the total cost of the visa in this situation £1464 x 2 ?

Afraid so, if the child is not British. Not sure but theres the IHS fee too for the child, £600, not applicable to fiance visa though though you will have to pay it for the following spouse visa. And again 2.5 years after. Not cheap these foreign birds....

Correct as these are two separate application.

However if you aren't the child's biological father there are other issues to consider. Does your fiancee have sole custody? Where is the child's father?

Bear in mind that you will have to meet the minimum income level of £22,400 p.a and in addition to the visa fee the Child Dependent visa also incurs a £600 NHS surcharge fee

yes my fiancee does have sole custody and the father does not have any legal rights over the child....we've already looked into that

I'm thinking of applying for a fiance visa on the grounds of a physical condition giving her exemption from the English language requirement, though I'm not sure I can take the risk any more given the fees total

From what I read, I think it is correct to say that if the application is rejected the visa fees are non-refundable, is that correct?

Very minimal medical conditions that allow an exemption and reems of medical evidence and justification would need to be submitted.

It is not a written test, but speaking and listening.

I wasn't sure - hence I said 'I think'. But it did make me wonder what visa the child would have - can't be a fiance visa and can't be a dependant visa, or can it?

Is the Child Dependent visa only issued for a period of 6 months?

If so, both the child and the mother will need CSI to cover any medical treatment during the 6 month period. (I'm aware this is a requirement for the fiance as no surcharge is due).

This means that the OP will have to be prepared to pay for 2 x visa fees + NHS surcharge for their visa extensions at the end of the initial 6 month period.
£933 + £500 x 2 (postal) = £2866

CASA and I were referring to In country application, not entry clearance, which are more expensive.

You will need to pay £1464 x 2 for the entry visas
AND
£993 + £500 each for the 2.5 year visa extensions after you are married.

Total: £5914
