Can I do a short course in Dublin with Tier 2 UK Visa?

Post by shrikantK » Thu Nov 09, 2017 3:59 pm

Hello There,

I have Tier 2 General work visa for UK. And I know Indians can travel to Ireland on UK visa-https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... isa-scheme

Now I have been thinking to do couple of skill development courses offered by a private American organization which will be held in Dublin. I'll need to visit there twice in a month for 4 days each.

So just wondering am I allowed to study or complete such short courses in Ireland while having a UK work permit?

Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
S

You need a visa. You don't hold a visa category in the UK that permits you to travel visa free to Ireland.
2. Eligible UK visas
Indian and Chinese nationals can travel to Ireland and the UK using the following UK visas:

all standard visitor categories where the maximum period for a single visit is six months
Permitted Paid Engagement visas
Unaccompanied children and those issued standard visitor visas which allow them to remain in the UK for longer than six months in a single trip are not eligible.

Applicants for other visa categories will require separate visas to enter the UK and Ireland respectively.
