FLR(M) Version 12/2016 - Extension of Stay

Post by SukandaWilson » Thu Apr 13, 2017 7:24 pm

Can anyone shed some light on the first paragraph of the part of section 13A dealing with "Children" on page 66 of FLR(M) which begins " You must provide an original full birth certificate..."?
What definition of a "child" is being applied -is it age related or a biological relationship?
Does the paragraph relate to Section 4 of the form dealing with dependent children or does it also relate to non-dependent children?
Is a dependent child who is a UK citizen included?
Finally, perhaps less important but more interesting, what part of the Immigration Rules is this subsection relevant to?

FLR(M) -Children and Evidence of active role.

Post by SukandaWilson » Sat Sep 09, 2017 4:39 pm

Hi, Im struggling with the FLR(M) form for further leave to remain as a spouse. My daughter (dependent) has UK citizenship via my husband. We live together as a normal family but it looks like I need official documents to show I and my husband "play and active role in [her] upbringing". These need to be dated within 3 months of my application. As you can imagine a six year old doesnt get many letters. Anybody dealt with this before?

It is not relevant to you as your child is NOT applying for a visa.

Many thanks, that's what I thought ought to be the case. But this is not clear on the form which says (page 64) that "You must provide an original full birth certificate... for all your children. This includes children... not applying with you and those not subject to immigration control" and later on the same page "If you have dependent children under the age of 18 in the UK..you must provide the documents listed ...even if [the dependent children] are not included in the application."

You must provide the evidence of chilren (British too) even if they are not applying for a visa.

The piece you have asked about re 'not older than 3 months' is the bit I was referring to that is not relevant to you, page 64 'Children' section of the form.

FLR(M) - Ties with country of birth

Section 10.14 Says "You should tell us about any family, friends, or other connections with [my country of birth]. I cant believe that I have to list all my extended family and all my friends - what do they want?

Does it specifically say 'list every single family member and friend'?? No it does not.

True. But what is it they are after? How do people usually answer this?

Simply state, for example :

XYZ Country - Parents and siblings
ABC Country - Extended family (aunts, uncles, etc).
DEF Country - A few long standing friends
