My ILR BRP card

Post by soumensarkar » Fri Nov 17, 2017 6:54 pm

Hello Moderator,
Last week I have been granted ILR based on Tier2 General 5 years basis. Yesterday I received BRP card.
In the BRP card, following is mentioned
Date of Issue: 10/11/2017
Valid until: 31/12/2024
Type of permit: Settlement
Remarks: Indefinite Leave to Remain.

Why the end date is 31/12/2024? This is also my passport's expiry date. Is this correct? So If by 31/12/2024, I don't become UK citizen, do I need to extent my ILR visa again?

Thanks in adavnce for your reply.

2024 is the year the EU has set for all members states to update all biometric documents with more enhanced security features. The card will need replacing NOT ILR status.
