British Citizenship , Child born in the UK for Parent who recently got ILR

Post by Dsam06 » Mon Oct 02, 2017 12:27 am

Hi guys,

Before all, many thanks for this forum, I browsed the different topics for couple of days, and I answered most of my concerns, good job.

Sorry, if the questions I am about to ask have already been answered somewhere else (it would be great if we can have a search across the whole site).

I am applying for my UK born child (1y 7m), he had PBS dependant visa, I got last month ILR, so I am applying for his British Citizenship.

I am using the MN1 form, Section 1(3), my questions are the following :

1- Am I right in assuming that the Section 3 of the form is not required in my case?
2- For the referees, I am planning to get his GP and the Nursery lady, is it okay ?? or Should I include someone else ??
3- In other topics in this forum, I've seen that people provide details of the application process are including the passport receipt date. I am a bit confused here.I thought that requesting the first passport for my child was a separate process than the naturalization's one ? Am I right in assuming that the naturalization is a separate process, and once I get a notification for the approval, I can start the process of requesting a first UK passport for my child? Or, can both be joined in one application?
4- Is it possible to attend a premium service, and avoid long waiting delays, especially that I have a holiday planned for the next couple of months, or should I just postpone everything, until the whole application process is done?

Sorry for my long post guys, and many thanks if advance.

Cheers,

Correct
2- For the referees, I am planning to get his GP and the Nursery lady, is it okay ?? or Should I include someone else ??

Fine.
3- In other topics in this forum, I've seen that people provide details of the application process are including the passport receipt date. They are separate process by separate departments. However, if you apply through NCS at the council, you can apply using the JCAP (joint citizenship and passport scheme) and apply for both at the same time. You will only get the passport once BC is approved anyway. You cannot apply jointly if you apply by post on your own.
4- Is it possible to attend a premium service, and avoid long waiting delays, especially that I have a holiday planned for the next couple of months, or should I just postpone everything, until the whole application process is done?
No, there is no 'premium service' for ANY citizenship application. Your choice if you postpone but if you apply using NCS at the council, you get to keep hold of all your original documents.

Presumably the child still has a decent period of validity of visa if you plan to travel??

Hi CR0001,

Many thanks for all your replies,
I was not aware of this method of application NCS at the council, JCAP (joint citizenship and passport scheme). I will definitely use it.

Yes, my son's visa is valid until October 2018, so I think I still have sometime for the application.

Many thanks,

NCS charge a small fee for their service but it is definitely worth it.

Your son will be free to travel provided that you did not obtain ILR through 10 years long residence.

MN1 - NCS JCAP application

Post by Dsam06 » Sat Dec 02, 2017 1:34 pm

Dear board members,

Thanks for this forum which is very helpful,
I am about to apply for my son's naturalization and first passport using the NCS JCAP.
I am using the MN1 form - Section 3(1).

As I am applying for both naturalization and passport at the same time, I wanted to double check some details if you can clarify for me :
- Are there any additional required documents except
- The MN1 Form,
- The passport form
- Mariage Certificate
- Actual non-uk passport
- Son's BRP
- Both mine and my wife's BRP
- Photos
- Passport payment form (page 25 from the booklet).
Am I missing anything ??

Also, I wanted to know
- Do I need to submit my passport and my wife's ??
- Will the passports be returned on the same day or will they be returned at the end of the process ?? as I might need to travel outside the UK soon.
- What is the total fee amount (973 + Passport fees), are there any additional fees ??
- Last one, how long do you think guys the entire process will take ??

Sorry for my questions, I know, I asked couple of questions in the same post.

Many thanks in advance,
Really appreciate your help guys.

Cheers,

Children are Registered not naturalised.

You need to aubmit one parents passport and ILR BRP. You will get all originals back.

You need the citizenship fee sheet too.

You say you are registering under sextion 3(1) which is for children that are NOT born in the UK. As your child was born in the UK it is section 1(3).
