Child Passport requirement for new born

Post by ILR_MN1 » Mon Dec 11, 2017 12:55 pm

Dear All,

I need help regarding the child passport application. I am on ILR and my Application for British Citizenship is approved. I will be attending the ceremony in 2 days.

I need to apply for British Passport for my new born. I understand I can apply for British Passport for my new born as I am on ILR.

My question is as I have to send back my ILR card back to home office in next few days, should I wait for my passport to arrive and include it with application for my Kid Passport or should I apply her passport now with my ILR card. If I send my ILR card back to home office, will there be any problem to apply for her passport, as my british citizenship is approved after she born.

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Kind Regards,

This one. You need to prove you had 'settled status' at the time of the childs birth. You are only British AFTER you attend your ceremony.
If I send my ILR card back to home office, will there be any problem to apply for her passport,
You need to send your ILR BRP card to prove you were 'settled' at the time of birth. It should not be an issue for your BRP return if you apply for child's passport using the one week fast track service.

Thanks CR001.

I can do that but I am bit worried if it is not returned on time to get fined by home office.

Can I send the certified copy of my BRP with passport application or contact home office to explain the delay in sending the BRP.

Unlikely if a few days late, particularly as it is Christmas snail mail. No one on the forum has reported getting fined.

My understanding is you need to send the originals.
