My husband is divorcing me .....we have an Egyptian marriage and I want to know my rights.

I am British and married my Egyptian husband in Cairo. We are now separating and he has arranged for us to divorce at the Egyptian embassy on 18th Dec in London. I would like to know what my rights are. He will return to Egypt soon after I'm guessing.......He has accumulated a lot of money in the time he has been in the UK and I would also like to know if he can simply leave with all the money. We have never had a joint account. He has never supported me. Am I entitled to maintenance when we divorce?

What is your husband's current UK immigration status/visa?

As you are both domiciled in the UK, you should be divorcing through the UK courts and getting a decree absolute.
